Children's Magazine

We’re making a magazine, and we’re hoping you’ll be in it.

It’s called the Children’s Magazine. Everything in it is made by kids, from anywhere in the world. This is edition one, and the theme is Home.

Home means different things to different people. The place you sleep, or the place you used to sleep. The smells in the kitchen. The people around your table. A city you go to in summer. A song. A story someone in your family tells. Something you carry inside you even when you’re somewhere else. Something you’re still trying to figure out. Whatever “home” is to you (or isn’t), we want to see what you make from it. And home does not look the same for everyone: a house, an apartment, a tent, a houseboat, even an igloo, made of brick, cloth, or snow.

Writing:

• Stories, poems, essays, letters
• Something quieter, like a series of notes or a diary entry
• Jokes, puzzles, word games you invented

Visual work:

• Drawings, paintings, illustrations
• Photographs
• Comics or graphic pieces

Anything else that doesn’t fit those buckets is welcome too. Any language. Any length. If you can make it, we’ll consider it.

One rule: the work has to be yours. Not something you copied off the internet, not something an adult made and put your name on. You made it. That’s the only rule.

Go to dornafoundation.org/en/submit. There’s a small section at the bottom your parent or guardian has to fill in (they need to agree we can publish your work), but everything else on the form is yours to answer. You can paste text directly, upload a file (a scan, a photo, a PDF), or both.

If the piece is on paper and scanning it isn’t practical, you can mail the physical original. We have drop-off addresses in the Netherlands and the United States. Ask a parent to email info@dornafoundation.org for the address nearest you. We scan it into the review queue and can post it back.

An editorial board of other kids reads everything that comes in. They talk about it, star their favourites, leave notes for the mentors, and help pick pieces for the printed edition. Adult mentors do the final assembly.

This isn’t a contest and nothing you send us gets thrown away. Our promise is simple: your work will reach the world. Some pieces go into the printed magazine that launches on Nowruz (the first day of spring 2027, around 20 March). Everything else finds another way out, the online archive on the Dorna website with your first name next to it, a public reading, a partner outlet, a display at an event. We keep looking for the right home for each piece.

If your piece is chosen for the printed edition, we’ll let you know before it goes to press. We’d love you to be holding a paper copy on Nowruz.

Whether or not your piece ends up in the printed edition, we’ll send you a link to the online magazine when it launches so you can read the whole thing. That’s automatic, everyone who sends us something gets access.

If you’d like a paper copy in your hands, ask a parent to sign up. They can email info@dornafoundation.org anytime (now, later, in six months) and say you’d like one. We’ll do our best to make it happen.
