Children's Magazine

Hi! We’re making a magazine, and we’re hoping you’ll be in it.

It’s called the Children’s Magazine. Everything in it is made by kids like you, from anywhere in the world. This is the first ever edition, and the theme is Home.

Home can mean a lot of things. The place you sleep. The smells in the kitchen. The people around your table. The city you visit in summer. A song. A story your grandmother told you. Something you carry inside you even when you’re somewhere else. Whatever “home” is to you, we want to hear about it. And home can look different for everyone! A house, a tent, a boat, even an igloo made of snow.

Whatever you want to make. Really. We take:

• A story, a poem, a joke, a puzzle you invented
• A drawing, a painting, a comic
• A photograph you took
• Something we haven’t thought of yet

Any language is fine. Any length is fine. Any age is fine.

One thing though: the work has to be YOURS. A grown-up can help you upload it and type in the boxes, but the story or the picture or the poem or the photo has to be something you made yourself. That’s the whole point of the magazine.

Go to dornafoundation.org/en/submit. A grown-up needs to help with a few of the boxes at the bottom (they have to say it’s okay to publish your work), but the important part, the story or picture, is yours.

If your work is on paper and it’s hard to scan or photograph at home, a grown-up can mail the original to us. We have drop-off addresses in the Netherlands and the United States (a grown-up can email info@dornafoundation.org for the closest one). We scan it and can post the original back to you.

A group of other kids, roughly your age, is going to read every single thing that comes in. They talk about the pieces, star the ones they love, and help pick some for the printed magazine.

This isn’t a contest, and nothing you send us gets thrown away. We promise: what you make will reach people. Some pieces go into the printed magazine that lands on the first day of spring 2027 (that’s Nowruz, around 20 March). Everything else finds a home somewhere too, on the Dorna website in our online archive with your first name next to it, or in a public reading, or shared with a partner who wants to feature kids’ work. We’ll find a place for it. That’s our promise.

If your piece goes into the printed magazine, we’ll write to the grown-up in your family and let you know. We’d love you to be holding a real paper copy on Nowruz.

When the magazine is finished, we’ll send you a link so you can read the whole thing online. That happens no matter what, every kid who sends us something gets to see the finished magazine.

If you’d also like a real paper copy in your hands, ask a grown-up to write to us and say so. They can do that now or later, whenever they want, and we’ll try our best to send one.
